Thank You With A Tulip

I would like to give a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Eileen & Deanne!
Thank you, ladies!

I asked for help & they quickly provided it. It's so wonderful to have such supportive & giving women in my life :)

I pieced together the vibrant tulip before attaching it to a sparkling, handmade tag.

A Squirrel's Tale

I came across this wonderful blog yesterday, World Of My Imagination. It offered a fantastic challenge that I couldn't resist: Wednesday Writing Weekly Writing Prompt. Using a photo & 5 words, you must come up with a story that is 500 words or less.

I'm a writer, although, I haven't done it in a long time. I figured I might as well do it now! Here is my story, inspired by my creation below. Whether it's good or not, writing a weekly story is a great challenge for me & will definitely offer something different than the regular craft challenges I enter.

Like a jet, a squirrel shoots down a tree & stops. She feels eyes watching her. She glances about without moving a muscle. She doesn't blink until she finds those eyes & who they belong to. She lets out a chuckle when she realizes that it's just Grandmother. Grandmother is what the squirrels call the castle's cat. She's an old soul, who is too busy lazing about, sleeping away her day on the lawn to bother with them. Her kittens, now grown, are another story entirely. They still have their youth & curiosity. A dangerous thing.

The squirrel grabs an acorn that has fallen from a tree. She keeps focused on everything around her. Many a squirrel has fallen pray to the kittens for not paying attention. Her nose twitches as gentle breeze brings the scent of fish. It must be feeding time for the kittens, so she relaxes her guard. They never give up a free meal, especially during the summer when it is hot outside. She has an hour to spend enjoying the ground. Once the kittens eat, they sleep.

The squirrel scurries around, grabbing more acorns. It was such a beautiful day in the shade. The grass was soft & cool. The birds were singing. It was so lovely when the kittens weren't around. She picked up another acorn before she realized that the birds were quiet. Quiet was never good. One of the birds shrieked & she realized her error.

A kitten was crouching not far from her. Darn! She had made a mistake & it could be lethal. She kept still for a moment before her flight instinct to over. Dropping all of her food, she ran as fast as she could toward the tree. She was safer in a tree than on the ground. She felt the swipe of a kitten's paw, but it missed her as she charge up that tree. Her life depended on it.
When she was as high as could be, she looked down. The kitten had lost interest almost immediately & was already on it's way back to the castle. A sigh of relief.

Apple Of My Eye

I finally got around to using this delightful digital stamp by Meljen's Design. Isn't it just SO cute? I love their graphics & it's always exciting to have them sponsor a challenge at Tuesday Alchemy.

Romance In The Park

A delightfully drawn couple relax on a park bench - Isn't that just sweet?

To bling this creation up, I covered a chipboard flourish with sparkling blue glitter. I've had these flourishes for a long, long time. They come unaltered. I decided to use them ASAP. I pained & added glitter to a bunch, so don't be surprised if you see a few more projects with these on 'em!

Discover

I discovered a whole bag of this argyle die cuts that I had made previously (By previously, I mean probably well over a year ago!) If you've checked out my other creations today, you will definitely notice a similarity in supplies used :) I decided to use as much of them as possible because they have been just sitting there with nothing to do for so long.

Old T-Shirt = New & Wonderful Embellishment!

The image on this card was from an old shirt. I glued it to thick cardstock for stability before cutting it out. I painted the tissue paper & shoes to add more color as it had a "washed out" look originally. Finally, I added a button & rhinestone for a little bling.

When I painted the shoes, I added a little glittery embossing powder. This gave the shoes a bit of sparkle & lots of texture!

Play In The Rain

When I lived on the coast, it rained A LOT . . . all the time . . . even in July! You quickly learned to treat a rainy day like it was a sunny day. You did your business, you played & you just lived in it. If you didn't, you would be a hermit & miss out on everyday joys.

These boots are a digital stamp that are offered for FREE by Broken Box Stock. I cut off the very tops because I messed up the color scheme by using a dark blue. They look fantastic, though, don't you think?

Red Explosion With Paperclip Bookmarks

I love red & not because it represents sexiness or love, but rather because it is bold & fun! This card is all about one of my favorite colors. It features two boutique paperclips that can be easily removed from the card & used as, well, paperclips or bookmarks or craft embellishments.

Boutique paperclips were made by moi! They are available by themselves at my shop.
