Hello

I was one of those lucky crafters that was randomly drawn at Divas By Design. My prize? $10 of goodies from Joanna Sheen.

I chose Candi. They are small cardstock buttons & come in a variety of styles. I'd never seen them before, so I figured it would be fun to have something new to work with.

I added Candi to this tag along with a free digital image from MayzyArt, which can be found here.

I was very happy with my Candi as it definitely looks lovely & adds interest to my creation.

Have you won a prize from a challenge blog? If so, what did you win? Have you used it yet?

Day 67: Fair Trade

For the 30 Days Of Reflection Photo Challenge, we were asked to share a stuffed animal. Well, I don't have any stuffed animals. I haven't had one since I was a child & I'm definitely not a child anymore.

This stuffed animal is from Stitchy Situations. She custom made a teal dinosaur for me & I created mini cards for her. It was a fair trade.

I gifted this quirky creature to my nephew, who absolutely adored it!

Would you like to see my other reflections?
Yes? Oh, how fantastic!

Wishful Beach

Instead of doing the usual beach theme, I shared a little wish of mine with this creation.

It's a small view of a beach house. I've always wanted to have my very own beach house. I love the idea of stepping out your door & the big, beautiful ocean is there for enjoying.

Do you have a wish? Does it inspire you to create?

Lots Of Moo Love

Today starts a week of hot days! I'm not looking forward to it, but I am happy that it's not raining. Luckily, my home has beautiful trees that offer lots of shade & will keep it cool inside for most of the day.

This creation was inspired by summer. Lots of bright colors & flowers! The quirky cow digital stamp was provided for free by Digi Darla Designs at the Clear It Out challenge blog.

Day 65: Creating With Friends

This dish belongs to my friend. I borrowed it to bring home leftover food from one of our dinners.

It always brings back the memory of an evening of wine, crafting & fun. We went to a local pottery shop & she made this piece. Well, she painted it green. She'd had a bit of wine - not to mention, she isn't a "crafty" person - & all she could manage was layers & layers of green paint.

It's been a good piece, although, it has few chips. I made a spoon rest, but unfortunately, it broke, so I can't show it to you.

What do you do with friends? Do you have a favorite memory with them? I'd love for you to share it with me! This post was created for the 30 Days Of Reflection Photo Challenge. This fifth day is about something you borrowed. Are you joining in? If so, please let me know & I'll stop by to visit your reflections.

Day 64: I See Green Everyday

The first thing I do every morning is make a cup of steaming coffee using my French press. I add sugar & almond milk, then blend it all together. Coffee - it's my necessity, or maybe it's just a habit, but I do so enjoy it.

I take it outside on my porch, sit in my comfy chair & relax while the birds sing. It's a wonderful way to wake up, prepare & plan what I'll be doing for the day.

How do you start your day? Is it always the same?
Are you a morning person (like me)?

It's the fourth day in 30 Days Of Reflection Photo Challenge & it's all about something green. This photo is what I see everyday. It's just a small portion of my backyard. There is tall bamboo, a bush of some sort & Day Lilies.

Want to see my other reflections? Yes? How fantastic!

{PIN}spirational Challenge #14: Inspirational Photo - Sailboat

This week at {PIN}spirational Challenges, we are inspired by a very fun photo of a sailboat scene. Isn't it adorable? Everything is made from fabric. The cloud is puffy & white because it's stuffing. This is such a creative photo. I enjoyed viewing all of those fabulous details.

Our sponsor at {PIN}spirational Challenges is Di's Digi Downloads. They are giving one lucky participant a $10 Store Voucher! What a wonderful prize :)

I created my own sailboat using fabric scraps & a dark blue piece of felt that I cut to shape. The cloud is also felt that I cut by hand. A bit of twine & cotton mesh completed this card for me.

Have you ever traveled the seas on a sailboat? I have not, but it's definitely something I know that I would enjoy . . . if I don't get sick.

I was on a very small boat in Hawaii & it was very choppy water. I got sick! Ug, ug, yuck, but at least I had a big ocean to throw my lunch into & not on my neighbors. I know that they were quite thankful for that!

Was that a little too much information? I apologize if it was :) Changing the subject, I'd love to have you share your own interpretation of the photo. Link it up at {PIN}spirational Challenges.

Soap Monthly, July 2012

Since I know how to make soap, I make all of the soap that is used by my partner & I. Every month, I bring out my supplies & make up a large batch, so we don't have to worry about being nice & clean for the month (or buying those yucky beauty bars!) I will be sharing my creations every month - Won't that be fun? All of my soaps are 100% vegan . . . No animal ingredients & no animal testing.

Color: Smoky Blue
Scent: Vintage Rose

A generous helping of dried herbs makes this soap perfect for exfoliating the body.

Color: Greens
Scent: Bamboo Hemp

I added French Green Clay, which removes impurities & toxins, making it perfect for a facial soap (if you don't have sensitive skin.)

Color: Gold Shimmer/Smoky Blue
Scent: Patchouli/Berry Sorbet

The gold half has lovely chamomile powder & buds. It's heavenly as an exfoliant as well as adding a delightful chamomile scent.

Do you make your own soap or other beauty products?
If so, what do you like to create? Do you sell them or are they just for personal use?

{PIN}spirational Challenge #13: Inspiration Photo - Butterfly Cupcakes

A new Tuesday means a new challenge at {PIN}spirational Challenges. This week, we are inspired by cupcakes covered in a creamy mint frosting & topped with pretzel butterflies. Sweets always taste better when they look so beautiful, right?

How does this photo inspire you? Are you taken by the colors? The cupcakes or their unique embellishments? We would love to see what you come up! Create something new & share it with us at {PIN}spirational Challenges.

By participating, you have a chance to win a prize from this week's sponsor, Melonheadz. Their digital graphics are very cute & have that illustrated look for lots of fun!

Ok, so, yeah . . . I loved this picture & I was inspired by it rather quickly. It's always nice when that happens! I quickly put together this creation. It's CAS, but oh, so lovely :)

Instead of making cupcakes, I decided to create an ice cream cone as I'd already done the cupcakes on a past {PIN}spirational challenge. If you are like me, you enjoy a triple decker cone. Who wants just one scoop, anyway?

The ice cream & the cone was made using foam that I covered with glitter embossed cardstock. It's shiny & sparkly, although, you may not be able to tell from the photo. The butterflies are die cuts. I gently bent them in the middle to give more dimension to them.

I decided to keep it completely CAS, so the entire focus is on that yummy dessert.

Recommendation: Chocolate Peanut Butter, Organic So Delicious (Turtle Mountain.)
{ Fun Facts }

The U.S.A. enjoys an average of 48 pints of ice cream per person a year. That's more than any other country! (I'm not quite sure if this is something to be proud of.)

July is National Ice Cream Month in the U.S.A. It was proclaimed as such in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan.

What is the most ice cream cones prepared in a minute? Nineteen!

My Crafty Mind Has Hit The Wall

This week I just couldn't sit down & create cards for challenges as much as I'd like to. I tried. I tried again, but I just ended up sitting at my table staring at my TV screen or looking out my window. I have a lot to do, but I just couldn't get myself to do it. I made sure that I completed my DT tasks & shop orders, of course.

Since finding all of my old jewelry, I had these wonderful plans to recycle it all into creations. I managed to create two things so far. This is the second one, the first one can be found here.

The bow is from a choker. It's actually the backing that was coming off, so I stripped it & turned it into the bow. Very soft & supple material with a rich brown color. I still have the rest of the choker to work with, too.

The other details include a chipboard flourish that I covered & sealed with glitter, leaf stickers & faux flowers/

Have you ever been blah about your craft? If so, how did you get out of it? I'd love to hear your story :)

Cupcake 197: It's In The Eyelets

Another wonderful challenge is offered at Cupcake Craft Challenges this week. It's all about eyelets! This creation has a monochromatic color scheme. Isn't lovely how emerald & sage go so well together?
What colors have you used that didn't initially seem like they would fit together, but once you combined them, they turned out splendidly?

Chipboard was covered by emerald glitter before I added eyelets & hemp twine. The flower was made by me, too, & punched leaves complete this CAS creation.

It's Time To Camp

If you live in the USA, Father's Day is June 17th.
That's this Sunday if you don't keep track of the days :)
Have you made a card for your dad?

When I think about my Dad, I always think about camping. As a family, we took plenty of camping trips & still do. It's such a delight to relax next to a campfire chatting with my dad.

Bicycle Trip

It's time to take a little trip on the bike. The weather is perfect for it (if you live where I do.) I'm going to take some time & remember how to ride my bike since I haven't gotten on it in quite a few months! Luckily, you never forget . . .

I scavenged through my printed photos & found a lovely one of a Manzanita tree. It's bark naturally peels, creating a beautiful mix of colors.

Posies In A Vase

Here is a quick & easy way to create a "vase": Cut the ends off of an oval. Yep, that's all it takes :)

I used the same flowers from the card below, but I changed it up for a completely different look & new creation.

Handbag Style

There was a very brief moment in my life when I decided I was going to make purses. My mom had just bought me a sewing machine, so that was all I needed! I bought lots of fabric, trims, threads, handles & whatever else caught my fancy. I was going to be this fabulous handbag designer, making lots of money by selling them on ebay.

Ha ha ha! I made a few bags AND I even sold a couple. They weren't horrible, but they were not fantastic. Of course, I struggled & struggled to learn, but my impatience got the better of me. I put a stop to that fantasty. It was fun for a time, but it just didn't catch my interest.

Itsy Bitsy Bikinis

It's Summer! If you are in Oregon like me, it may not seem like it. But it's here! If you haven't already pulled it out, it's time to get that bikini (or other swimsuit if you're not a bikini wearer) ready to wear or at least your body ready to wear it :)

Escape

Today's weather in Oregon is fairly mild, so I'm going to escape into crafting, imagining when it will be nice & hot & I will be swimming in a lake. I decided to attempt to complete a full week of challenges for 365 Cards. This is my second card today for them. Stay tuned to see if I can complete all 7 challenges . . .
