Throwback Thursday: Tacks

On November 10, 2010, I sold my very first set of Diamond Thumb Tacks.
I can't believe it was so long ago. I still get excited when someone purchases them!

See the differences? Ha ha ha. I'm definitely taking better pictures. Lighting is key :)
For fun and because I LOVE to see changes, share a craft from back then and one from now.

Friday's Handmade Finds: Smoky Blues

Exploring handmade creations is a journey that I take frequently. I just can't help myself! This week, it was smoky blues . . .

Organic T-Shirt by ilovemixtapes
Science shows there is reason it's important to read a book, so this T-shirt gives excellent advice. Read a book - It's good for you :)

Crochet Gloves by skywatcher1121
Crochet lace is a lovely way to add a vintage look to your fashions & living spaces. You can find someone to make it for you or DIY with free patterns.

Owl Necklace by poisonberryjewelry
Did you know? Owls' eyes are fixed in their sockets, which means they have to turn their entire head to look in a different direction. Luckily, they have excellent binocular vision to make up for it.

Sparkle & Shine Everyday: Gold

{Layout was created using FREE papers from Jennifer Scraps.}
I was inspired to pick the following creations by my own: Adrienne (shown in photo above.) $1 from Adrienne's sale will benefit Animal Place, which provides permanent sanctuary for farm animals along with helping to educate & promote cruelty-free choices.

Gold will sparkle & shine. It works with a multitude of colors, too. it's always a good choice for everyday.

Charity Starts Here . . . Ways To Support Dogs For The Deaf

Did you know? Dogs For The Deaf was founded in 1977. Ever since, they have been dedicated to each dog and person for life, offering guidance and support to make sure they remain a successful team!

Dogs For The Deaf facility, located in Central Point, Oregon
And there are only a few more days to shop at Pin & Tack to benefit Dogs For The Deaf! $1 from every listing sold at the shops will support this important charity.

Not in the market for boutique pins, tacks & other delights? Well, that is never a problem. I encourage you to donate directly and Dogs For The Deaf offers a variety of ways to do so.

A few of the dogs that have successfully completed the training.
Field Of Memories: With a donation of $150 or more, you can honor a loved one with a memorial stone and daffodil.

Recurring Donation: Set aside funds each month to be automatically given to Dogs For The Deaf. Any amount is appreciated!

Special Occasion Donation: Send the gift of charity to someone special with a greeting card and monetary donation in their name.

Shop: Spread the word through gifts with DFD logo, such as cards, clothing, mugs, totes & more at their online ship.

Map shows all of the locations where they have successfully placed dogs.
It can cost up to $25,000 to rescue, professionally train, and place a DFD dog. They charge only $50 for the application process. To make sure you are serious and can afford keeping the dog, $500 is required to actually receive the dog, but it is fully refunded after 1 year of living with the dog. How incredible is that?

Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue . . .

Roses are red, violets are blue . . . a poem that starts with this typically ends with an expression of love. Unless you like to be snarky, but we won't go that route - Ha! If you enjoy giving gifts, let roses & violets inspire you to choose one for your loved one.

Have you already gotten ready for the big LOVE day? If not, now is the time. Please don't be a procrastinator. It's just not the thing to do if you celebrate this day with your love. Otherwise, you end up giving a crappy card, boring box of chocolates, and not-so-fresh flowers.

Enjoy A Bit Of Crazy Happiness!

I was crazy happy when I found, well, Crazie Happy - Ha!
This shop offers a unique twist on mozaics. Instead of tile, it's pieces of clay.
Bold colors, outstanding patterns and just so fun that I had to share with you!

(Source, Clockwise: 1. Aladdin's Lamp, 2. Incense Holder, 3. Tea Pot, 4. Bowl, 5. Wall Hanging, 6. Cookie Jar.)

"Making things with my hands has become a defining characteristic of who I am.
I usually bring clay with me on vacations.
My passion (or obsession, actually both) is a fire that has not died down or even slowed down.
It satisfies me and gives me pleasure to a degree that is almost unexplainable."
- Lydia Ruark of Crazie Happy

Did you enjoy her work as much as me? Are you a clay artist or crafter? Share your own joy with us!

DIY Dog Delights To Save You Money

Dog accessories can get costly. I know this from my own experience shopping for my BIG, sweet puppy dog. It doesn't have to be, though, as these DIY creations show.

(Tutorials, Clockwise: 1. Mud Mitten, 2. Collar, 3. Pet Bed, 4. Collapsible Bowl.)

If you are not the crafty type (or just don't have the time), you can have something delivered to your door from one of these handmade shops.

* Note: Unfortunately, I did not find anyone that made "mud mittens," so you will have to buckle down & make it. Thus, I snuck a photo of my own pup - Ha ha! If you do know of someone that does offer them, please leave a comment with info!

Blessings & joy, yours truly . . . Corrinne Quinn

(I was motivated to create this post by Pin & Tack's charity, Dogs for the Deaf, which will receive $1 from every item sold at both shops. I urge you to donate directly, though, if you don't need or want anything from my shop. Thank you so much!)

I Just Know That . . .

(You are welcome to share this photo as long as you do not alter it in ANY way. Thanks!)

And you will be my cup of tea with a little sugar if you end this month out sweetly by donating to Pigs Peace Sanctuary or stopping by Pin & Tack. Every item sold will give $1 to this wonderful haven for the pigs!

V is for . . .

V is for Vegan. At least for today, that is.

Now, don't be alarmed, I'm not sharing any disturbing videos or chastising anyone for their choices. That's just not my way unless you're my partner - He's vegetarian only :( It's that cheese, that dang cheese that he uses as an excuse. I just found an article that said it is addicting, which is why it's difficult for people to stop eating. Great, that's just what I needed to hear.

Okay, sorry, I was getting distracted. Today is World Vegan Day. Happy World Vegan Day!

There are so many wonderful things about being vegan and the food is just the beginning. Discover just  a few vegan goodies that will tempt you to the V side . . hopefully :)

{Duct Tape Roses, Custom By Corvis, $2.50}
{Carrot Cake Caramels, Feed Your Face, $12}
{Tummy Kisses Belly Balm, Juniper Mercantile, $3.75}
{Vintage Style Rosie Bag, Love Ellie Bags, $57.97}
{Bee Girl - Limited Edition Print, Mumbot, $20}

Yeah, isn't that wonderful? So many vegantastic things out there. What's your favorite?

Pin & Tack Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

In the month of October, all of Pin & Tack's regular-priced pink items will provide $1 towards the National Breast Cancer Foundation (or NBCF.) Over 80% of all spending by the NBCF will go to programs that benefit women, such as breast health services.

Did you know . . . ?

- Breast cancer is the most common cancer found in women worldwide. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

- Screenings, early detection and better treatment options have been an important part in decreasing the amount of deaths caused by breast cancer. NBCF provides women in need with free mammograms through their National Mammography Program.

How can you help?

Donating money is not the only way to help our fellow women. You can volunteer your time, participate in special events or simply bring attention to the cause through social media or bringing it up to your friends and family.

ONE POUND Handcrafted Vegan Soap For $10!

It is with a sad heart that I am closing my soap shop, Quinn Corrinne Soap Company. I am hoping it is only temporary, but I have limited time & am unable to continue this endeavor. If I do re-open my shop, it will be quite some time. However, I do have three pounds of handcrafted, vegan soaps that I am offering for a low, low price. These will be my last listings, so I have reduced their original price to clear out my studio.

For one pound of soap, it is only $10!
Free shipping for USA residents!

U is for Umbrella

U is for . . . uh . . . I am really tired today & I have been busy, busy, busy in establishing my challenge blog, Tuesday Alchemy. I highly recommend checking it out if you like to create ANYTHING or you like to win prizes or you'd like to be on a design team. Ok, ok, enough with self-promotion.

I decided to give myself a little mini break & do some web window shopping. Here are some wonderful umbrellas that might just tempt you to spend your hard-earned cash OR at least take a look and dream.

How sweet are these invites?

This art print was made for children, but don't let that stop you.
It would be adorable for any whimsical woman.

Be unique with this beautiful umbrella necklace!
This crochet umbrella is handmade from 100% cotton.
Spectacular! Yes, I want it now :)

{PIN}spirational Chaleenge #4: Photo Inspiration

This is my first official week as a DT member of {PIN}spirational Challenges - Yeah! It's a fantastic challenge blog that challenges you to create with a photo found on Pinterest. You can also find wonderful links to freebies to help you with the challenge. How awesome is that?

Using the same embellishments & layout, I created a box AND a card for this challenge. It is also a part of my Mission 2012: Use It! I successfully used a variety of supplies from the owl (which I'd made previously) to the gorgeous rose.

The owl features rhinestone eyes & a pearl belly button - Very cute and super sweet! Instead of a latch for closure on this box, I opted for a strands of pearls.

Below is the card version of this design. I distressed the brown card base with paint. Yes! You can use paint on your cards. I find that it's a great way to coordinate colors if you don't have a particular one in cardstock or paper.

The flower had more yellow than pink, so I inked it up with pink & added pink glitter glue to the center. It toned down the yellow & tied the flower into the overall color scheme, which is pink, blue & brown.

We have a wonderful sponsor for this week's challenge, so definitely join in the fun & submit your own inspired piece at {PIN}spirational Challenges for a chance to win & create!

Tuesday Alchemy Challenge #11: Black & White

Did you see my sneak preview? Did you guess correctly? It's all about black & white! I created a box with lots of those two basic colors. It has a collection of buttons, boutique bow, satin ribbon & delicate yellow roses. Shabby chic & sweet!

This week at Tuesday Alchemy is VERY SPECIAL! We have first sponsored challenged, so you can win a prize by joining us for the challenge. Karen's Scraps And Graphics has generously offered a $10 coupon to their shop AND has signed up to be our regular sponsor - Woohoo!

I opted for sparkling rhinestone details instead of a latch.

R is for Roses

Roses . . . They are beautiful flowers & they actually can be quite easy to grow. I have quite a few in my backyard as they make excellent cut flowers.

These tea light holders were embellished with roses for a shabby chic, romantic look.
