Splish Splash Summer Fun

Happy Friday, everyone!

The temperature in Oregon has finally cooled down, so you know what that means?

Yard work . . lots and lots of yard work.

We've let our yard go since it was too hot to be outside - not mention that there was SO much smoke from fires nearby that it wasn't healthy to breath the air.

This weekend will be spent pulling weeds, cutting down plants & mowing the grass. Of course, after that is done, I will be crafting away.

What are your plans?

{PIN}spirational Challenge #14: Inspirational Photo - Sailboat

This week at {PIN}spirational Challenges, we are inspired by a very fun photo of a sailboat scene. Isn't it adorable? Everything is made from fabric. The cloud is puffy & white because it's stuffing. This is such a creative photo. I enjoyed viewing all of those fabulous details.

Our sponsor at {PIN}spirational Challenges is Di's Digi Downloads. They are giving one lucky participant a $10 Store Voucher! What a wonderful prize :)

I created my own sailboat using fabric scraps & a dark blue piece of felt that I cut to shape. The cloud is also felt that I cut by hand. A bit of twine & cotton mesh completed this card for me.

Have you ever traveled the seas on a sailboat? I have not, but it's definitely something I know that I would enjoy . . . if I don't get sick.

I was on a very small boat in Hawaii & it was very choppy water. I got sick! Ug, ug, yuck, but at least I had a big ocean to throw my lunch into & not on my neighbors. I know that they were quite thankful for that!

Was that a little too much information? I apologize if it was :) Changing the subject, I'd love to have you share your own interpretation of the photo. Link it up at {PIN}spirational Challenges.

A Fashionable Cook

{ Tulip Apron With Heart Neckline }

Aprons have come a long way from just protecting your clothing from food splatters while cooking up a meal for your family. They are now little pieces of fashion with lots of feminine touches & fun patterns!

Heart & Sow Designs definitely understands a woman's need to be pretty no matter what she's doing. These aprons are perfect for everyday, but they also work perfectly for parties as they look like beautiful dresses. In fact, you'll probably wish it was a full outfit!

Heart & Sow Designs offers a variety of styles. All of them are fun, fun, fun! And one size fits most. If you don't need an apron, Heart & Sow Designs has lots of other pieces, such as hair accessories, scarves & tote bags along with inspirational items.

{ Rainbow Polka Dots Apron }

Heart & Sow Designs' creations are handmade by one woman. When she was a teenager, Gail Metcalfe learned to sew from her mother. They would often times make her clothing together. She has been sewing ever since & it's been over 30 years now!

She is a natural crafter, so she's created many things from party cakes to wedding bouquets. Her love has always been fabric, so she's stayed with creating fabric accessories.

She enjoys using fun patterns & adding a vintage flair. She also uses recycled fabrics - What an eco-friendly woman! She also does custom orders. She loves to work with people to come up with a completely one of a kind creation.

Cupcake 196: Red, White & Blue

This challenge for Cupcake Craft Challenges was by far the most difficult & frustrating for me than any other challenge I've done. Why? It's just a simple color scheme, Corrinne - How difficult can that be?

I'm a July baby, so everything for my birthday (whether it's a calendar or personalized item) always has this color scheme along with stars & stripes. Hey, I like red, white & blue. I like stars, too. I just would like a little variety for July!

Ok, ok . . . enough with my thoughts. Let's get to the task at hand, which is sharing my creation with you. The first card I made was nice, but it needed more to it & I just couldn't figure out what to add. My second card was okay, but I messed it up with painted flowers. This is my third attempt . . .

The flower & heart are crocheted (not by me as I suck at crochet.) I painted, glittered & sealed a chipboard flourish for the embellishment under everything. The background print is fabric NOT paper.

I am a guest designer at Cupcake Craft Challenges for the month of June! Join me & the other wonderful designers by making your own Red, White & Blue creation to share.
