Cupcake Craft 198: Put A Bird On it!

Oohh . . . I am a little sad to create this post. Why? Well, it's my last week for being a guest designer for Cupcake Craft Challenges. It was a lot of fun & they had wonderful challenges. I will definitely miss being a cupcake! Thank you, everyone, as I felt most welcome & throughly enjoyed my time with the team :)

Ok, so let's get to business . . . This week it is all about the bird. Put a bird on your creation & share it with us over at Cupcake Craft Challenges. There are always fantastic prizes & if you need more inspiration, check out my fellow team members creations, too!

Originally, I was going to fussy cut around this big, glittered flower. It was on a thorny stem & was so pretty. It was too big for the card, though. I went a little crazy & decided to deconstruct it, then place just the bloom on my card.

The birds are sitting on curly branches on the background. It's beautiful cardstock that I embossed with the design.

The "love" was cut from the same cardstock as the flower. Overall, it's very sweet & soft.

Happiness!

Cupcake 197: It's In The Eyelets

Another wonderful challenge is offered at Cupcake Craft Challenges this week. It's all about eyelets! This creation has a monochromatic color scheme. Isn't lovely how emerald & sage go so well together?
What colors have you used that didn't initially seem like they would fit together, but once you combined them, they turned out splendidly?

Chipboard was covered by emerald glitter before I added eyelets & hemp twine. The flower was made by me, too, & punched leaves complete this CAS creation.

Cupcake 196: Red, White & Blue

This challenge for Cupcake Craft Challenges was by far the most difficult & frustrating for me than any other challenge I've done. Why? It's just a simple color scheme, Corrinne - How difficult can that be?

I'm a July baby, so everything for my birthday (whether it's a calendar or personalized item) always has this color scheme along with stars & stripes. Hey, I like red, white & blue. I like stars, too. I just would like a little variety for July!

Ok, ok . . . enough with my thoughts. Let's get to the task at hand, which is sharing my creation with you. The first card I made was nice, but it needed more to it & I just couldn't figure out what to add. My second card was okay, but I messed it up with painted flowers. This is my third attempt . . .

The flower & heart are crocheted (not by me as I suck at crochet.) I painted, glittered & sealed a chipboard flourish for the embellishment under everything. The background print is fabric NOT paper.

I am a guest designer at Cupcake Craft Challenges for the month of June! Join me & the other wonderful designers by making your own Red, White & Blue creation to share.

Cupcake 195: Tagtastic!

Hello, everyone! Today is an exciting day for me as it's my first challenge as a guest designer for Cupcake Craft Challenges. They asked me to join them for the month of June, so every week you will see a new creation by me that will be featured as inspiration for their participants. Wonderful, right? Be sure to visit us at Cupcake Craft Challenges & join in the fun!

For this challenge, we were challenged to create a tag, but it couldn't be just any tag. It had to be tagtastic! I decided to grab a variety of my supplies that have been waiting to be used, so every detail & embellishment is probably 6 months or older. My Mission 2012: Use It is on it's way to be completed!

Just A Note

Instead of using fancy papers, I took pages from a well-loved dictionary to create the big bloom & for a little added background. I LOVE books, so I only use those books that have been used so much that they need new life added to them. Turning their pages into embellishes is a wonderful way to add interest to my craft.

I Am A Guest Cupcake!

I was surprised this morning when I checked my email & there was a note from Cupcake Craft Challenges. Have you been by there? If not, you most certainly should stop by.

Cupcake Craft Challenges is a sweet & yummy (yep, just think of a cupcake) craft challenge blog that I've been quite fond of. I've been a Cupcake Cutie AND a prize winner over there, which is always amazing. And now they have invited me to join them as a guest designer for June. Well, of course, I said "YES!" Isn't that awesome? I am very excited!

So, my wonderful friends, don't forget to check me out there in June :) I am now a Guest Cupcake - That's just the best title ever :)

Baby Bear In The Window

A sweet, little bear looks out her window on beautiful Spring day. Her best friend is an equally sweet stuffed bear that goes with her on all of her imaginative journeys.

This 3D window box is filled with blooms, grass & decorated with a lovely heart banner. This flat card is more suitable for framing or displaying than giving as a greeting.

I'm A Cupcake Cutie!

I was stoked to see that I was picked as a Cupcake Cutie for Cupcake Craft Challenge #187 - Woohoo! The challenge was to create a card showing something that would be found in a sewing box. I chose to make a jar of buttons. See my original post by clicking here.

Cute As A Button

I love buttons! They come in such a wide range of colors, designs & sizes that they are a MUST have for any crafter's stash. They look wonderful singly or loaded on the project. For this piece, I took a little snapshot from my studio & transformed it into this "cute as a button" card: a jar of buttons with a smattering of buttons laying beside it.

These cards were inspired by these wonderful challenge blogs - See below for the link & details, so you can join in the fun & share your own creation:

It will be available in my shop (click here) if you'd like to give this to someone special :)

Music Notes (M2012: Use It! Card Edition )

I love, love, LOVE to sing. Unfortunately, I sound absolutely awful. You won't see me anytime soon on American Idol. I do wish I had a beautiful singing voice. My partner wishes I had one, too, since I sing around the house constantly. I know I sound bad, but I pretend that I don't then I look at my partner. He always gets this look on his face . . . of pain.

Buttons & Daisies

I have lots of buttons. I bought them to use, but then I never used them. Waiting for something to use them on - for something in the future - for something else. I always think "I might need them for another project." Well, enough with the waiting & enough with the storing!

I decided this circle card is perfect for these buttons. The handmade flowers add doses of bright color & actually look quite well with the soft blues of the buttons.

DIY: Quick & Easy Background

Need a background for your project? Well, here is a quick & very easy way to make a fun polka dot background. Line up die cut circles on your card, scrapbook page or other project. Ta-duh! I told you it was easy, didn't I?

This technique can be changed to suit your needs. Use patterned paper circles or stamp an image in each circle. You can also do nothing, too! Line up the circles & leave as it for a minimalist look.
