K Is For Kites (Blogging From A To Z Challenge 2014)

Welcome to Blogging From A To Z with Pin & Tack.

Today's letter is . . .

Kites. Yes. Let's go fly a kite.

I actually haven't flown a kite since I was . . uh - yeah, a kid. Wow. It's been a long time! They are very fun and, now, I really want to play with one. Unfortunately, I don't have one. Oh, wait. Google. Yep, I can make one.

How To Make A Kite (or two or three . . .)

Did you check out the site? Oh, my, they have a lot of awesome information. You can make almost any  type of kite with all of their easy to follow instructions.

But . . you need wind. I don't have any wind today, so I'll have to try another day :( In the meantime, let's enjoy these lovely kites . . .

Do you you there are kite festivals? They are very cool and you most likely will find one near you. If you don't want to fly one, you can watch lots of people, including synchronized kite flyers!

So, are you excited to fly a bit? I hope so - Share your favorite experiences with kites. I'd enjoy hearing about them.

New Season, New Things . . .

Sparkle & smile - It's Spring! And I have been feeling the joy of it.
Perhaps, that's why I'm a little obsessed with yellow right now?!

My inspiration was the sunshine that I am soaking up - Sorry for those that aren't as lucky!
This lovely weather has pushed me to try new things, including digital arts & crafts.

Are you on a new journey? I'd love to hear about your creative or not-so creative adventures.

Blessings & joy, yours truly . . . Corrinne Quinn

Anything But A Card Challenge #2: Texture

ABAC Challenge #2 begins today. It's all about texture. Create ANY project as long as it's not a card and add that texture to it!

This canvas was covered with glittered cardstock before I painted over it with navy, then distressed in white.

Satin ribbon is topped with a piece of a broken belt (Super cute belt, but oh, so cheap & broke on me!)

I painted the butterfly white, so it would go with the color scheme, then topped with a grosgrain ribbon bow.

Lots of different textures - Yeah!

{PIN}spirational Challenge #15: Photo Inspiration - Fairies

This week at {PIN}spirational Challenges, we are inspired by another fabulous photo found on Pinterest. Isn't that just lovely? This is what I love about {PIN}spirational Challenges. It's a unique way to offer up a challenge & I know that our team coordinator, Deanne, just loves to look through Pinterest for pictures that will spark creativity.

If this inspires you, won't you come join us? You could win a fantastic prize from our sponsor, Doodle Dragon. They provide quirky & super fun digital stamps for creating happiness. And that's my mantra: Happiness is creating & creating is happiness!

Ok, so obviously I was inspired by the fairies - who wouldn't be? Unfortunately, I didn't have any fairies in my supplies. Nope, not a one. I could have searched for freebies, but this is the year of use it.

Therefore, I decided to go with the pink color & flowers. I also added a few sentiments (very old embellishments that needed to be enjoyed) that made me think of fairies. The butterfly is a rub-on that I included because it has wings like those whimsical creatures.

Red, White, Blue & Thing-A-Ma-Bobs

Thing-A-Ma-Bobs . . . well, I didn't know what to call this creation, so I figured that suited it. I looked through my old supplies & picked red, white & blue things.

Red, White, Blue & Charming Butterfly

This week seems to be the challenge of red, white & blue. It was Independence Day in the USA yesterday after all. I didn't watch any fireworks this year, but I definitely heard them!

I didn't use the classic blue. I went with a lighter version. I love how it works so well with red & creates a different look.

{PIN}spirational Challenge #13: Inspiration Photo - Butterfly Cupcakes

A new Tuesday means a new challenge at {PIN}spirational Challenges. This week, we are inspired by cupcakes covered in a creamy mint frosting & topped with pretzel butterflies. Sweets always taste better when they look so beautiful, right?

How does this photo inspire you? Are you taken by the colors? The cupcakes or their unique embellishments? We would love to see what you come up! Create something new & share it with us at {PIN}spirational Challenges.

By participating, you have a chance to win a prize from this week's sponsor, Melonheadz. Their digital graphics are very cute & have that illustrated look for lots of fun!

Ok, so, yeah . . . I loved this picture & I was inspired by it rather quickly. It's always nice when that happens! I quickly put together this creation. It's CAS, but oh, so lovely :)

Instead of making cupcakes, I decided to create an ice cream cone as I'd already done the cupcakes on a past {PIN}spirational challenge. If you are like me, you enjoy a triple decker cone. Who wants just one scoop, anyway?

The ice cream & the cone was made using foam that I covered with glitter embossed cardstock. It's shiny & sparkly, although, you may not be able to tell from the photo. The butterflies are die cuts. I gently bent them in the middle to give more dimension to them.

I decided to keep it completely CAS, so the entire focus is on that yummy dessert.

Recommendation: Chocolate Peanut Butter, Organic So Delicious (Turtle Mountain.)
{ Fun Facts }

The U.S.A. enjoys an average of 48 pints of ice cream per person a year. That's more than any other country! (I'm not quite sure if this is something to be proud of.)

July is National Ice Cream Month in the U.S.A. It was proclaimed as such in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan.

What is the most ice cream cones prepared in a minute? Nineteen!
